New York (Harlem) swing style (1934)

This arrangement is indicative of Hendersons later style and was passed on to Benny Goodman, who recorded it later. A comparison of the two performances demonstrates the difference between the early and late swing interpretive styles. The later style is generally more polished and exact. The structure for each chorus is ABAC, and the lines between the structural phrases are often reinforced by simultaneous changes in sectional voices.
